Taysom and Hayden

Turns out our basketball seats are perfect for football fans.  After I sat by Bronson Kafusi at the last game, Hayden got to sit by Taysom Hill tonight.  Awesome!

Hur-i-CUN

In November, these gals and  I decided that it was time for another getaway.  We chose St. George over President's Day Weekend, and this time, Marci flew down to meet up with us.  We left on Friday evening (which, as it turned out, was Valentine's Day- how's that for understanding husbands?).  We stopped in Cedar City for dinner and groceries before finishing the drive and landing in Hurricane (pronounced Hur-i-CUN by us and said as often as possible during our stay in this lovely little town).

Saturday morning (actually, it was afternoon because we stayed up until 2:30 in the morning and slept till close to 10), we left the house and headed over to Snow Canyon in St. George.

We decided to explore the lava tubes, which are a series of underground caves.

After shimmying through a very narrow passageway (not posting the unflattering picture of this), we ended up in this large dark cavern.

"Just a bunch of chubby mom's trying to have an adventure!"

Marci found another passageway and took herself on a little side trip.  She was making me nervous, but eventually managed to get herself out of a very tight spot.

We then walked up to see Jenny's Canyon, a short slot canyon that is fairly close to the road.

There was no shortage of selfies on this trip.  These can be quite a challenge when trying to squeeze five faces into one tiny frame.  We had fun attempting a good picture (translation: everyone looks skinny and is smiling pleasantly and naturally at the camera) but not much luck.
 Good times, for sure.

On Sunday, we woke up early (not true; we stayed up until 2:30 again) and went to Sacrament Meeting at 11:00 after which we drove into Zion's Canyon.  Admission was free!  We lucked out with a great parking spot and headed out for a nice Sunday walk.  to the top of Angel's Landing.

This sign sums it up pretty well.

We huffed and we puffed our way up the switchbacks.

And we tried to forget about the sign with the stick figure guy falling to his death as we made our way up the chains.

And eventually,

we reached the top!

We had such a great time conquering this mountain.

Going down was lots easier and less scary than going up (the less scary part doesn't really make sense, but I think you acclimate to all the crazy cliffs and the stick figure fades from memory... or something like that).

On our way out of Springville, we drove past this home that was crushed in December when a boulder fell from the mountain above it.  We had to stop and take a look.  So unbelievable.  And so sad.

Monday, we cleaned up, stopped at Swig (for the second time in three days), bought sugar cookies for the road, and headed home.  When we got to Jen's house in Spanish Fork, we took one last picture in our matching GAP sweatshirts (I guess we have graduated from the matching pajamas we used to wear as teenagers).

Thanks for a fabulous weekend, ladies!

Love you too!

Flats or Heels?

This morning Ellie could not decide which pair of shoes to wear with this beautiful hand-me-down dress from Ashleigh.  Flats or Heels?  So, she did what any sensible 7-year-old would do when faced with this dilemma.  She grabbed a pencil and a clipboard and polled each family member.

 Oh... and heels won.

BYU Basketball Game With The Football Players

Cameron and I went to the BYU basketball game tonight and just happened to be seated next to several BYU football players and recruits.  Knowing that Hayden would be so excited about this, I asked Bronson Kafusi if we could take a picture with him.  He was happy to say "yes," and I was happy to have some proof of our star sighting to share with Hayden.

Snow Fun!
