Happy 40th Cameron!

With Cameron turning 40 this year, I knew I wanted to do something big.  So, after lots and lots of planning, I managed to pull off a really fun surprise party for him.  I invited friends and family to meet at Mark and Michele's church and then told a whole bunch of lies to get Cameron there.  I discovered that I am not a good liar and was surprised that he didn't notice the color of my face while we were driving to the party- fire engine red!  After everyone yelled surprise and sang Happy Birthday, Cameron Stewart showed up with three of his buddies from Qwick Wits to do an improv show.  It was so. much. fun!  And thankfully, the birthday boy was a really good sport when they picked on him.  I think the best part of the night (for the rest of us, at least) might have been the skit in which they told Cameron he would have to play the part of whatever prop they needed.  Sharon suggested "gymnastics" as the theme and away they went.  Who knew that Cameron could be a pommel horse, rings, a mat, AND spandex?!  See video clip below for a good laugh! We then sang, cut and served the cake, and watched a video that I made of lots of loved ones talking to/ about Cameron (see also below). 

When I started planning this party, I told someone that I wanted it to be "epic."  I'm pretty sure that I came close.
 

 

Caribbean Vacay Day 8

Day 8:  Last minute pictures on the ship.  Disembarked.   Taxi to Verdanza Hotel.  Much better room this time.  Rented car.  El Yunque Rain Forest.  La Coco Waterfall.  Yokahu Tower.  Hike to La Mina waterfall.  Beautiful.  Hot and humid.  Vine swinging again.  Even Michele!  Dinner at the Blue Iguana.  Tough time getting there.  Starving.  Tasted great.  One last “yummy yummy time”.  Wishing for a Baskin Robbins.  Google Maps not helpful.  Michele said a prayer.  In her heart.  It worked!  Baskin Robbins!  Tender mercies?  Cameron said no way.  Back to hotel.  Cards?  Too tired.  Bedtime.

 

 

 

Caribbean Vacay Day 7

Day 7:  St. Croix.  Should not have cancelled the jeep we had rented.  Spent a good while trying to rent a car.  Finally figured things out after an expensive taxi ride to the airport and dealing with an unhappy rental agent.  Good morning.  Good morning.  Good morning.  Stinker!  Rented an SUV.  Comfy, but not as fun as a jeep.  Went to Cane Bay.  Great snorkeling.  Lunch at Eat @ Cane Bay.  Great food!  Advertisement in restroom: "Jump out of a perfectly good airplane" and land on the island (hopefully- ha!ha!).  Drove through the rain forest.  Swung from a vine.  Rainbow Beach.  Dog did his business.  Boys slept.  Pretty crowded.  Final swim in the Caribbean.  Back to port.  Last minute shopping.  Took a nap.  Felt so good!  Packed up our stuff.  Sad to be leaving tomorrow.  Dinner in the dining room.  Said goodbye to Avi, Ghazi and Jeremy.  Walked around the ship and laid on the helipad (with a bunch of noisy teenagers).  Bedtime.
