On our way to the Eaglecrest Dance Festival:
Me: "Hadley, are you so excited to come to school here next year?"
Hadley: "Of course I'm excited. I have been waiting my whole life to be done with preschool."
June 21, 2014:
Ellie: "I'm going to have two kids and name them Walter and Ruby."
Me: "Why only two kids?"
Ellie: "Because then they can share a room and I will only have to pay for two rooms (one for me/ one for them).
And, I can get a slug-bug for my car."
June 27, 2014:
Hadley came in upset and cried to me, "Ellie says I have to wait 70 seconds before I can have a turn with Emi and I can't even count that high!"
July 28th, 2014: We were planning to go up the canyon for the evening and I was going to make tinfoil dinners. I asked the kids what they wanted in them and Ashleigh said (in all seriousness), "Could you get some potato circles at the store when you go?" She was referring to sliced potatoes...
July, 2014: Hadley said the family prayer tonight and ended with, "Please bless Emi to stop getting bigger... and PLEASE bless that Mom will stop wishing for me to get littler."
July 31, 2014: Hadley was helping me fold laundry when she came upon a pair of her own shorts and said to me, "These shorts are so warm, Mom. Thanks for cooking them up!"

Austin has a history of leaving the garage door wide open. This has been a source of contention between us as we have reminded him again and again how easy it would be for someone to walk in and help themselves to our belongings (never mind the safety factor). Well, Austin purchased a very expensive bike this year and when we went to pick it up, the salesman told him it would be a good idea to store the bike in a closed garage because it would be such an easy target.
That weekend, as Cameron and I were leaving for a date, the third car garage was open so we asked Austin to come and close it. He assured us that he was "on it," so we left on our merry way. When we arrived home late that night we were unhappy (to say the least) to find that the garage was still wide open. Cameron decided that we would teach Austin a lesson and hide his bike, making him think it was stolen. He went to get the bike and discovered that it was chained to the worktable in the garage.
Austin had taken great care to ensure that should someone take something from our garage, it would not be his bike.
It seems the rest, as far as he was concerned, was fair game.
Aaargghh!
Teenagers.

Ellie was scheduled to meet with the bishop this morning for her pre-baptism interview. We were running just a minute behind so when we pulled up to the church I said "Ellie, you need to hustle or you are going to be late." She asked, "What does hustle mean?," and I answered, "It means hurry up." She looked at me, rolled her eyes and said, "It's hasten, Mom. You mean hasten."
