Dominica. Volcanoes and thick, lush rainforest. Bumpiing Tours. Guides, "Running Board" and "Barbie." Hike to Middleham Falls. Swam underneath the waterfall. Refreshing (translation: ice cold). Sharon climbed and jumped. Of course she did. Next stop: Ti Tou Gorge. Unbelievable. Pirates of the Caribbean filmed here. Steve, Sharon, Cam and I jumped into the gorge from the top. The others got in the regular way. Swam upstream past a waterfall. Running Board helped us climb the waterfall and jump back down. Swam out of the gorge. Saw a fresh-water crab. Learned that Russ does not love water or enclosed spaces, but he does love socks and shoes. Learned that Sharon does not like to wear a yellow flotation belt because it might diminish her reputation as "ceritified." Stopped at a lookout point and got all four fingers smashed in the van door (thanks a-lot, Steve). Cried for a good half hour. Sharon used her skills to manage the "situation." Calmed me down. Kept me warm. Shoved meds into my mouth. Might lose a couple of fingernails but now have a free lifetime membership to their pool. It was probably worth it. Trafalgar Falls. Soaked in the hot pots in the river below the falls. Felt so amazing. Did not want to leave. Ever. Back to port. Steve almost drove, but we all voted NO. Saw grapefruit, passion fruit, cashews, breadfruit, papaya, and nutmeg. And a smashed bus (victim of a hurricane in the 1970's). Shops at port. Back on boat. Lobster for dinner. Chocolate cake for Neil and Merlene's Anniversary. Stole Sharon's piece and passed it under the table for a bit. Games on 11. Bed.
